OverviewNottingham Animal Hospital has an opportunity for a Full-Time
Experienced Certified Veterinary Technician
to join our team!
Join Our Growing Team at Nottingham Animal Hospital!
Location: 3607 Nottingham Way, Hamilton, NJ 08690
Compensation:
$24.00-$26.00 per hour (based on experience)
Office Hours:
- Monday - Thursday: 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM
- Friday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Shift Details:
- 4-day work week with a rotating Saturday
- We close daily from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM for lunch and ensure the team leaves on time at the end of the day.
Skills & Responsibilities:
- Prior Veterinary Technician experience.
- Proficient in animal restraint and safe handling techniques.
- Proficient in venipuncture
- Comfortable with Client Education
- Open to cross-training in reception duties.
- Anesthesia monitoring experience is a bonus!
About Nottingham Animal Hospital:
Nottingham Animal Hospital is a well-established, AAHA-accredited practice that will soon be staffed by five experienced veterinarians. Founded in 1989, our hospital is situated in a beautifully remodeled Victorian home designed to cater to the needs of both our patients and our team. We take pride in providing high-quality veterinary care while fostering a close-knit and supportive work environment. The well-being of our patients and staff is our top priority. Additionally, we have a specialty surgeon who visits our hospital to perform various orthopedic procedures and complex tumor removals.

While we are not currently Fear-Free or Cat-Friendly certified, we use low-stress handling techniques and Fear-Free practices to ensure our patients' comfort. We also use Feliway diffusers and take extra care to separate cats from dogs during visits to reduce stress.
We are expanding our facility to better accommodate our growing team and patient base, including adding another exam room and workstations.

Benefits:
PTO - 80
Full-time team members will be awarded additional PTO based on their years of service.
Holiday Pay 48 hours to apply towards 6 recognized holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day)
*The holiday PTO hours can be used at the team member's discretion to cover the actual holiday as observed by the hospital or other absences with approval from their Manager.

Responsibilities
- Deliver patient care under the supervision of a veterinarian (DVM).
- Maintain clear and accurate medical, client, and case records using appropriate terminology and grammar.
- Review medical records, treatment estimates, and discharge instructions with clients, and respond to basic animal care inquiries, escalating medical questions to veterinarians as needed.
- Guide and support medical support staff to ensure efficient shift operations and workflow.
- Mentor team members to encourage career growth and personal development.
- Provide input for 360-degree performance evaluations of employees.
- Assist with client services including appointment scheduling, payments, check-in, and courteous phone communication.
- Provide feedback and suggest improvements to training programs; participate in training sessions, job shadows, and working interviews.
- Perform assigned cleaning, clinic upkeep, and equipment maintenance tasks.
- Delegate cleaning or other duties during slow periods when a supervisor is unavailable.
- Identify and address areas needing additional attention within the clinic environment.
- Answer client inquiries confidently about routine procedures and animal care.
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients to support patient care and hospital operations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned within the nature and level of work.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program.
- Current state veterinary technician license in good standing.
- One year of experience in the veterinary industry is preferred.
- Proficiency in a range of technical skills including laboratory procedures, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental care, and nursing.
- Ability to administer subcutaneous (SQ), intramuscular (IM), and intravenous (IV) injections.
- Knowledge of commonly used veterinary medications including dosage, side effects, and client communication.
- Understanding of anesthesia and patient recovery monitoring, with the ability to recognize and report changes in patient status.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in stressful or fast-paced environments, including medical emergencies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfort and confidence in handling animals of all sizes and temperaments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds independently, and over 50 pounds with assistance.
- Capacity to sit, stand, and walk on hard surfaces for extended periods.
- Ability to work in noisy environments with sounds from animals and medical equipment.
- Routine exposure to animals that may bite or scratch.
- Occasional exposure to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medications/controlled substances.
- Adequate hearing to understand verbal instructions and client communication.
- Vision capabilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate medical equipment and computer systems.
