Description
Longleaf Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to serve as Lead Technician and Supervisor for our technical staff. This role is designed for an RVT who is confident in their clinical skills, values structure and accountability, and is ready to take on a leadership position within a collaborative practice.
This position carries direct supervisory responsibility over veterinary technicians and assistants and plays a key role in maintaining clinical standards, workflow efficiency, and team development.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead all veterinary technicians and assistants
- Set and enforce clinical standards, protocols, and workflows
- Provide hands-on training, mentorship, and coaching to technical staff
- Support doctors by ensuring consistent, high-quality technical support
- Delegate tasks and manage daily technical workflow
- Assist with onboarding and ongoing skill development of technicians
- Address performance concerns in collaboration with hospital management
- Serve as a point of escalation for technical and workflow issues during shifts
- Promote professionalism, teamwork, and patient safety across departments
Requirements
- Active North Carolina Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license required
- Minimum 5 years of clinical veterinary technician experience preferred
- Prior leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience required
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to provide clear direction, feedback, and accountability
- Commitment to high standards of patient care and team performance
