Able to work in hot, wet areas and wear personal protective clothing.ShiftMonday Friday; 7:00 am 3:30 pm (40 hours per week); This position is required to participate in weekend, after hours, Holiday and on-call rotations. Mandatory overtime may be required to meet staffing needs.Job SummaryThe Veterinary Services Tech I Clinical provides routine and essential animal care under the direction of the Supervisor. This position performs basic and routine animal caretaking duties for a variety of species, including mice and other rodents, nonhuman primates, pigeons, dogs, and additional research animals as assigned. The role also supports animal health monitoring, experimental surgery preparation, and general veterinary care activities.Staff in this position will receive training in all facilities and may be rotated across locations based on scheduling and operational needs. Occasional mandatory overtime may be required to ensure adequate staffing and to provide necessary care and treatment for animals.
All work must be performed in strict compliance with DLAR Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including all safety protocols and regulatory guidelines. The Veterinary Services Tech I is responsible for promptly reporting any deviations from SOPs or any nonroutine situations to the Supervisor. Consistent attendance, punctuality, and adherence to scheduled break times are essential requirements of the role.Skills / Knowledge / AbilitiesMS Windows, Word, OutlookDoes this position have supervisory responsibilities? NoPreferred Education/ExperienceBA or BS Degree or its equivalent is preferred along with AALAS certification at LATg or ASR1 or RVT. 1 year animal care experience, animal husbandry (laboratory animal husbandry preferred) or equivalent experience directly related to care, use, handling and treatment of animals in a paid position.
