Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists San Antonio is looking for a Lead Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You
The Lead Veterinary Internal Medicine Technician plays a key clinical and leadership role within the Internal
Medicine service. This position blends advanced technical skills with team leadership to deliver exceptional patient care, seamless service operations, and outstanding client experiences.

Key Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:
- Direct and coordinate the day-to-day schedule, keeping technicians and veterinarians focused, organized, and on task while adapting to patient & client needs
- Lead and support the Internal Medicine technician team through training, mentorship, and example
- Perform advanced Internal Medicine nursing care, anesthesia monitoring, diagnostics, and procedures
- Manage patient assessments, triage, treatments, hospitalization, and follow-up
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records and communication logs
- Deliver and review estimates, discharges, and treatment plans with clients
- Coordinate with doctors, CSRs, and hospital teams to ensure smooth daily workflow
- Respond calmly and effectively to emergency and critical-care situations
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, safety, and hospital protocols
Required Qualifications:
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (credentialed strongly preferred or equivalent experience)
- Specialty or advanced clinical experience; Internal Medicine strongly preferred
- Prior leadership, supervisory, or lead technician experience
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to remain calm, decisive, and compassionate in high-pressure situations
- Familiarity with Ezyvet & Smartflow systems preferred
- Experience with endoscopic procedures and advanced imaging modalities, including CT and ultrasound
- Schedule flexibility, including flexibility to assist or work in other departments in the hospital if needed
