Bay Area Pet Hospital is a privately owned 24/7 emergency hospital in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan. 

Our consistent scheduling allows our veterinarians to enjoy their days off and take advantage of living in such a beautiful, vibrant area. Traverse City, MI is located on beautiful Grand Traverse Bay. It is considered a vacation town especially for summer boaters and winter skiers and is home to miles of beaches, lakes, rivers, hiking trails and both downhill ski resorts and Nordic trails. The area boasts dozens of amazing local restaurants, wineries and microbreweries, many of which can be reached by water or via the winter snowshoe trail. 

This position is scheduled 3 consecutive overnight shifts per week. A second swing shift veterinarian is also on duty through the evening hours. Emergency veterinarians are expected to be comfortable with emergency surgery including gastropexy, splenectomy, enterotomy, intestinal resection, and Caesarian section. Surgical mentorship is available for those seeking more experience before performing these procedures on their own. Our overnight doctors are also responsible for overseeing our inpatients (average 5-6 patients/night). A passion for emergency and critical care medicine is a must.
