Description
Maine Veterinary Medical Center is looking to add a compassionate and skilled part-time Emergency Veterinary Technician to our team. At our Rarebreed clinic, you can help reimagine the veterinary experience in your community. Our innovative environment means you'll get to work with specialists of all stripes and practice cutting edge care! As part of our team, you'll work with the latest technology, gain access to state-of-the-art training facilities, and collaborate with a positive team to deliver the highest quality of care to the pet patients we all love. Part-time positions are scheduled from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., or 2:00pm to 2:00am.Maine Veterinary Medical Center (MVMC) is a VECCS level two certified Rarebreed practice that has full in-house laboratory capabilities, a fluoroscopy suite for interventional procedures, a GE 64-slice CT, MRI, respiratory ventilator, in-house telemetric monitoring, ultrasound and endoscopy. MVMC is a multi-specialty hospital offering services in Emergency & Critical Care, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Radiology, and Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine. Emergency Veterinary Technician
Maine Veterinary Medical Center in Scarborough, ME
$32.00-$40.00 per hour based on experience
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Perform triage evaluation of the condition of a variety of patients
- Create and maintain treatment sheets
- Calculate and administer scheduled medications, continuous infusions, and blood products
- Place and maintain catheters (central and peripheral venous, and urinary)
- Record all treatments and patient status observations
- Charge for all treatments and procedures
- Alert the DVM with any changes in a patient's status
- Perform anesthesia induction, maintenance, and recovery
- Perform radiographs and laboratory analyses
- Interact with clients, provide patient updates, financial updates, and manage patient visits
- Able to comfort, handle and restrain large and small animals

REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum five years of previous experience in a veterinary or animal handling role required
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude
- Able to multi-task
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Credentialed candidates (LVT, CVT, or RVT) are strongly desired for this role
