Description
Experienced Veterinarian – Full Time 9-Day Fortnight
Accredited Hospital | Supportive Team
Marion Animal Hospital | Adelaide
Are you an experienced veterinarian looking for a workplace where you can practise a high standard of medicine without sacrificing your life outside the clinic?
At Marion Animal Hospital, we believe you shouldn’t have to choose between a rewarding veterinary career and having time for yourself, your family, friends and the things you enjoy.
We’re a hospital with a close-knit team of 12 veterinarians and a highly skilled nursing team. Many of our team members have been with us for 5–10+ years — we think that says a lot about the kind of workplace we’ve built.
A genuinely good work-life balance
We run a 9-day fortnight (76 hours). A typical fortnight might look like:
- 1-2 × Surgery shifts – 10 hours
- 2 × Morning consultation shifts – 8.5 hours
- 4 × Afternoon shifts – 7.5 hours, starting at 2:30 pm
- 1 × Weekend Day shift – 9 hours
Those afternoon starts give you extra time in the morning for hobbies, exercise, errands, family, a long breakfast, or simply a sleep-in. We’re also happy to discuss part-time or individually tailored arrangements.
Your time is valued
You’re paid for every minute you work — including case management, phone calls and completing records. We build 1.5–2 hours of admin time into each shift, plus a paid 40-minute meal break.
If an emergency surgery genuinely needs to happen after closing, overtime and professional fees are paid. We believe your time, skills and expertise are valuable — and your pay should reflect that.
A team that has your back
Starting somewhere new can feel daunting, so we don’t throw you in the deep end. You’ll be paired with an experienced veterinarian for as much (or as little) support as you need — someone to help you settle in, navigate the systems, and bounce ideas off.
You’ll also work alongside a highly skilled nursing team and colleagues with experience across surgery, emergency medicine, diagnostic imaging, cardiology, feline medicine, dentistry, orthopaedics and laparoscopic surgery. Whether you want to broaden your skills or deepen your expertise, there’s always someone nearby to learn from.
Keep learning without burning out
We want you to keep growing as a veterinarian, and we know CPD should feel achievable rather than overwhelming.
You’ll receive:
- A generous CPD allowance
- Regular internal CPD lunches and case discussions
- Opportunities to learn directly from experienced colleagues
- Exposure to a diverse and interesting caseload
We’re happy to support you in developing the clinical interests that matter to you.
A hospital where you can practise good medicine

Asking questions is encouraged, and we’re proud that our team genuinely enjoys spending time together — both at work and outside of it.
