BluePearl Pet Hospital in Stone Oak, TX is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery Department.

Pay: $18.45 - 27.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

A BluePearl Surgery Pack & Prep Assistant plays a key role in supporting surgical services through instrument preparation, sterile processing, operating room readiness, and supply management. This position works closely with the surgical team to ensure procedures run efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of sterility and patient care. Previous experience in a veterinary hospital, sterile processing, surgical support, or operating room environment is preferred.A rotating on call schedule is required once training has been completed.

As a Surgery Pack & Prep Assistant, you will:

• Prepare surgical instrument trays, procedure packs, and operating rooms to ensure readiness for scheduled and emergency procedures.
• Clean, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and package surgical instruments and specialty equipment according to hospital protocols.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels of surgical supplies, implants, sterile packs, and equipment to support daily surgical operations.
• Assist with operating room turnover by cleaning, disinfecting, and preparing surgical suites between procedures.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repair or replacement of malfunctioning instruments and devices.
• Support the surgical team by ensuring needed instruments, supplies, and equipment are available and properly prepared for each procedure.
• Maintain sterile processing areas and uphold infection control standards throughout the department.
• Verify pack integrity, sterilization indicators, and expiration dates to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Organize and stock surgical supply areas to promote efficiency and workflow within the surgery department.
• Serve as a resource for surgical instrument identification, pack assembly, and sterile processing best practices.
