BluePearl Pet Hospital in Augusta, GA is seeking an experienced Patient Care Coordinator to join our team!Pay: $21.00 - $30.30/hour
The Patient Care Coordinator:
- Maintain a strong commitment to patient safety and compassionate care, calmly and gently handling patients in accordance with hospital safety protocols and American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) handling guidelines.
- Follow all hospital safety standards, including proper use of PPE, radiation safety protocols (ALARA principles), and hazardous drug handling procedures.
- Provide compassionate support to clinicians and clients during the euthanasia process.
- Support efficient hospital and service workflow, assisting across departments as needed and helping coordinate daily patient care and service flow.
- Act as a liaison between clients and the medical team, ensuring clear communication regarding patient status, treatments, procedures, medications, and ongoing care requirements.
- Facilitate client interactions including visit coordination, call-backs, and addressing questions or concerns, while documenting all communications with specialists, clients, and referring veterinarians in the medical record.
- Provide updates to referring veterinarians (rDVMs) and collaborate with internal services to coordinate procedures, consultations, and scheduling.
- Maintain working knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, procedures, and conditions to communicate effectively with veterinary professionals and clients.
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic pharmacology of commonly used oral medications, including proper handling, labeling, and dispensing.
- Create and review patient treatment plans, explain them clearly to clients, and support accurate invoicing and patient visit documentation.
- Maintain proficiency in hospital systems and workflows, including patient management platforms, treatment tracking, and insurance processes.
- Support training and development of team members, helping others build competency in prerequisite technical skills.
- Attend required staff and technician department meetings and actively contribute to team communication and hospital culture.
