Description
PetMedic Edgewater is looking for an enthusiastic Veterinary Technician or Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves learning, and wants to make a real impact on both patients and teammates. Our hospital combines the excitement of urgent care with a collaborative culture where people genuinely enjoy coming to work. Every day brings a variety of medical cases, from wound care and lacerations to toxicities, gastrointestinal illness, respiratory disease, and urgent diagnostics. All of this without the overnight shifts or holidays.Whether you're an experienced assistant looking to expand your skills or someone with a strong veterinary foundation eager to grow, you'll be supported by an experienced leadership team and doctors who love to teach.

PetMedic Edgewater is proud to be an approved Penn Foster Veterinary Technician externship site, allowing aspiring veterinary technicians to complete their required clinical externships while working alongside our experienced medical team.

What You'll Do
No two days are ever the same.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist veterinarians with outpatient urgent care appointments and treatments
- Safely restrain dogs and cats for examinations and procedures
- Obtain patient histories and accurate vital signs
- Perform phlebotomy for blood sample collection
- Collect urine samples
- Administer medications (PO, SQ, IM, IV)
- Perform laboratory diagnostics including CBC, chemistry panels, electrolytes, and urinalysis
- Take high-quality full-body digital radiographs
- Calculate medication dosages and prepare treatments
- Fill prescriptions and review discharge instructions with clients
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient treatment area
- Communicate compassionately with clients during stressful situations
- Support grieving clients during quality of life assessments
We're Looking For Someone Who
- Has at least 1 year of veterinary experience in-clinic (or equivalent veterinary education)
- Loves learning and welcomes coaching
- Loves to celebrate! We throw many parties and support our team through lifes many ecx
- Stays calm and organized during busy shifts
- Communicates professionally with clients and coworkers
- Takes initiative rather than waiting to be asked
- Enjoys working as part of a collaborative team
- Can lift up to 50 pounds and safely handle animals of varying sizes
