Veterinary TechnicianThrive Austin East 7th
2795 E 7th St, Austin 78702
$1,000 Sign-on Bonus
Schedule: Full time: 4 days/week (10-hour shifts) + minimum of 2 Saturdays/month
Service focus: Low-stress wellness exams, vaccines, preventative care, dentistry, spay/neuter, soft tissue surgery, diagnostic imaging, and end-of-life care
About You
You’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end patient care and technical support to our medical team-supporting low-stress wellness exams, vaccines, preventative care, diagnostic imaging, and end-of-life care. Your work will range from hands-on outpatient treatments and laboratory testing to support services including patient intake and discharge instructions.
Your Experience & Skills
Required
- 1-2 years of veterinary clinical experience
- Surgery, anesthesia, and dental experience
Preferred
- Veterinary technician licensure/certification (LVT/CVT/RVT)
Role Responsibilities:
- Support veterinarians to deliver high-quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
- Collaborate with the medical team across hospital functions (including diagnostic imaging) to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
- Assist with surgeries and procedures, including anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery, in accordance with your state’s Veterinary Practice Act for credentialed veterinary technicians.
- Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and provide guidance on vaccines, preventative care, medications, recommended treatments, and Thrive Membership options.
- Maintain accurate, complete medical records in the EMR using practice systems and standard protocols.
- Obtain relevant patient history from clients, support appointments, and update medical charts.
- Use safe restraint techniques, follow standard protocols, and maintain clean, sterile, and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and lab spaces; assist with sample collection, venipuncture, and IV catheter placement as trained.
- Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the team.
