Company Profile
Sunstone Veterinary Specialists
Company Overview
At Sunstone Veterinary Specialists, collaboration, kindness, and continuous learning are at the heart of everything we do. Founded in 2015, Sunstone has grown steadily through our commitment to exceptional patient care, teamwork, and professional development.
In 2023, we expanded our hospital to include Emergency Services, marking an exciting new chapter for our team. Since then, we’ve continued to grow and have built a cohesive group of specialists, emergency clinicians, technicians, and support staff united by a shared dedication to excellence and empathy in every case.
We are nice. We are collaborative. And we are deeply committed to nurturing growth in ourselves and others. We’re now looking to welcome a Critical Care team, inviting applications from board-certified or residency-trained criticalists and VTS (ECC) technicians who value teamwork, curiosity, and compassion.
At Sunstone, you’ll find a supportive, progressive environment where everyone’s voice matters, ideas are shared freely, and professional growth is celebrated. If you’re ready to join a hospital that prioritizes both excellence and kindness, we’d love to meet you.
Company History
Joshua Elliott, a veterinary internal medicine specialist, and Marie Xavier, a seasoned hospital administrator, launched Sunstone in 2015 to fill an unmet need in the City of Portland: to provide exemplary veterinary specialty care for cats and dogs, distinguished by exceptional personal care and attention.
Why? Because discerning pet parents and referring veterinarians have high standards for care and communication. Our patients and their families deserve nothing less.
By every measure that matters, Sunstone has succeeded:
-We’ve carefully recruited like-minded specialists and team members who embrace the core values that define our practice—excellence, productivity, teamwork, respect, and communication.
-We’re a trusted resource for an ever-growing number of pet parents and primary care veterinarians who value what we do—and how we do it.
-In an era of corporate consolidation, we remain privately owned—freeing us to set our own priorities, which are squarely focused on delivering exceptional personal care and attention, not enriching shareholders.
